The initial focus of the VRN is to prevent and reduce youth violence (up to age 25) and in particular serious youth violence in public spaces including knife crime. However, our intention is to broaden out the focus to other forms of violence in due course, not least because the evidence indicates:
victims who have experienced one form of violence are likely to experience other forms of violence
people who are violent in one context are likely to be violent in other contexts
different forms of violence share common consequences

The VRN's aims reflect the importance of understandng the nature, impact and causes of violence locally, taking stock of current strengths and gaps and mobilising wide-ranging support for violence prevention. As such our initial aims are:
